Disaster Risk Reduction Intervention in Devipatan Division – Funded by UNICEF
The Program was carried out in 176 Upper Primary and Primary School of district Balrampur, Gonda, Shravasti & Bahraich respectively.
About the Project
Considering the safety of school children and providing them a safe environment as a high priority area, the Natural Disaster Management Authority (NMDA) of India drafter the National Guidelines on School Safety Policy in 2016, with a vision of safety of school children. Against this backdrop, Devipatan Division (Shravasti, Bahraich, Gonda & Balrampur) has been selected for the model demonstration of many initiatives such as Early Childhood Education, out-of-school children, Early grade learning, WASH and DRR in schools. The interventions on DRR in selected schools will focus on creating awareness and improving the capacities of all concerned stakeholders, including government and non-government actors, for effective implementation of DRR in school, As part of this initiatives, 176 school (88 Primary Schools and 88 Upper Primary Schools) shall be focused upon.
DRR complaint model schools in every block of 4 districts of Devi Patan Division.
Enhanced capacities of children on DRR in schools.
TSG members of all four districts are trained on planning, monitoring, & reporting.
Block level resources group capacitated on Disaster Risk Reduction in school including mock drills.
